Lisa Stewart

Lisa Stewart was born in Sydney, and prior to becoming an illustrator she was a concert violinist and performed in a number of countries including Japan, the United States and Germany.

In 1995, after the birth of her daughter, she fell in love with the artwork of British author and illustrator Jane Ray. This was the beginning of her love of children’s picture books, and she was later accepted into the National Art School in Sydney. Lisa illustrated the picture book Can I Cuddle the Moon? by Kerry Brown, which was shortlisted for the Crichton Award for New Illustrators by the CBCA, and has been published not only in Australia, but also in Tawan and Korea. She has since published Mummy’s Kisses, Bushland Lullaby, Rainforest Lullaby, Jam for Nana, and more. Her illustration style includes pencil, watercolour and collage and showcases her love of paper.
