Sarah Davis

Sarah Davis grew up in New Zealand, wearing gumboots and falling in rivers. She worked as a secondary school teacher before moving to Sydney. Sarah is a very busy, award-winning illustrator who has collaborated with a number of leading authors in Australia, New Zealand and America. Sarah has illustrated 37 books, and has been shortlisted for 30 major awards in both Australia and New Zealand.

Sarah won the 2009 Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Crichton Award for Best New Illustrator, and has illustrated the multiple picture book series Fearless, written by Colin Thompson, the first of which was short-listed for the 2010 Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards. Sarah has number also illustrated the Violet Mackerel series with author Anna Branford, shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards in 2011, and won CBCA Honour Book in 2011. 

Sarah is an ambassador for Room to Read, and is the Illustrator Coordinator for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She will release her first book as both an author and illustrator with HarperCollins in 2017.
