After completing a teaching degree, Deb went to Africa where she was caught in a desert sandstorm, harassed by monkeys and thrown in jail...twice! She was the writer/producer of a national kids' TV show on Network TEN before leaving to write over 20 novels, including the Max Remy series and New City, the sequel to the bestselling, Grimsdon, about kids living in a climate-changed world. Her latest book, Teresa: A New Australian, was inspired by her dad who made the journey from Europe to Australia after the devastation of WW2. Her talks, PD sessions and workshops for kids and adults, are informative, interactive and fun. With her teaching and TV background, she uses images, videos, storytelling and games to explain the writing process and help kids develop their own stories. She is a proud supporter of Room to Read and Books in Homes.
